CFD
for Aerospace Applications
Our extensive design, analysis, and
project management experience in the area of Computational Fluid Dynamics
(CFD) has helped our clients to deal with the flow problems that come up in
the design and analysis phases so more of their effort can be concentrated
on meeting the ever-increasing requirements on innovation, marketing time
and cost reduction, and quality assurance. Our CFD expertise has enabled
our clients’ engineers and researchers to gain a better understanding of
complicated physics of the problems resulting in significant reduction in
costly trial and error experiments.

Support of Orion Program
InfoMec has
performed computational fluid dynamics simulations and pre- and
post-processing activities associated with it in support of Crew
Exploration Vehicle (CEV) and Launch Abort Vehicle (LAV). InfoMec helped
identify best approaches to geometry discretizaion as well as solver
numerics and models to capture the relevant physics of the particular flow
field. These analyses included flow regimes of diverse characteristics such
as viscous (turbulent) and inviscid flow at supersonic and subsonic speeds
on Taxi and reentry capsules configuration.

Space Taxi CFD Analysis
InfoMec has
performed fluid dynamics analyses on Orbital Space plane (OSP) in support
of NASA’s Space Launch Initiative. These analyses included flow regimes of diverse
characteristics such as viscous (turbulent) and inviscid flow at supersonic
and subsonic speeds on Taxi and reentry capsule configuration. reentry capsule configurations.

Sonic-Boom Toolset Enhancement
With
the renewed interest in supersonic cruise aircraft, NASA Langley had sought
to update its sonic-boom analysis software tool and improve its capability
to predict the aircraft sonic boom signature. InfoMec responded to the task
and performed software upgrades and numerous sonic boom analyses. InfoMec
has also been heavily involved in transfer of technology to Langley’s
researchers through documentation and technical assistance. assistance
